This happens every spring and fall-birds,
usually starlings come down our furnace pipe and into the basement.
Usually it's pretty easy for me to get them out-just open the basement
door and turn off the lights and they head right outside.
Sometimes, though-the door to our upstairs is open and they come up and
make a mess-flapping around, knocking stuff over, and pooping on
everything. This one made it all the way to our upstairs bathroom,
behind the door. I put on some gloves, grabbed him and set him free.
Glad I got a pic first, though.

OMG.. thought I was the only one who had starlings in the house in the Spring! lol, I think our starling entrance has been taken care of in recent years, but other unwelcome visitors manage to find their way in (mice.. eek). Love these pics.. sorry they were under unfortunate circumstances though ;) -Tammy
Tammy,
No-you're not the only one! This has been happening for years and years. I asked Hubby if there was a way to fix it so they can't come down the pipe-he said no. I don't believe him-haha!
we dont use our wood stove much,at least once a year we come home to a bird flopping around in the stove pipe. we have to open the stove and back door and hope they make it out. a few have gotten to scared and suffered little birdie heart attacks and had to be laid to rest in the back yard :( so glad your little guy was caught and released :)
Oh, birdie heart attacks-I've never had that happen and I hope I never do!
I have never seen such a thing!! How strange!!! THe pics are amazing Holly, and you saved her!! So strange that you and I both had bird experiences this week!!! Kindred spirits...Love you!
