Happy

I could not think of a better name for this rug!  Remember Happy Gilmore?

Take a pile of colorful, thrifted t-shirts and cut 'em all up, then crochet 'em all up, and what do you get?  A 'Happy' rug!

I've been eying a pile of tees in my closet-they better watch it, or they'll get it next!!!

Misty morning

(Jasper finally stood still long enough for me to take a picture.)

It was a very misty this morning.  So pretty!  Rocco's brother-Jasper (my in-laws' doggie) came to visit for a little bit this morning.  He does this two or three times a week.  He is smaller than our Roc and his markings are a dark brown color and Rocco's are more rusty-colored.  They look a lot alike, though.  I think they especially do in the last pic.

Have you ever heard the phrase-that's so meta?  Well, I 'think' this is so meta.  (Google it!)  And-that's not java.  It's a skinny double black Irish breakfast tea latte.

This is a Praying Mantis.  I went in the house to get my camera and it took me a long time to find him again.  He blends right in.  It's a defense mechanism-I googled it!

Wildflowers on the line-I though it would be neat if I could photograph a hummer beside these flowers.  None showed up for a long time!

Then I heard their chirping.  This is all I got.  Kinda cute though.

In the evening, I photographed this hummer's silhouette.  He has a feather out of place and I call his hairdo a humhawk.

I bought this time table for my girl years ago at Kmart.

She says everybody likes it, so I guess you could say it's a conversation piece.

I always stare at the totem pole face in my ceiling, when I'm lying in bed.  Can you see it?  (About half way down, 1/3 from the left.)  I always see things in my wood-ha!

A week later and these black-eyed Susans were still going strong.  Now it's been two weeks and the water is green and a few of the flowers are dead.  I can't believe how long they lasted!

I saw this 'vintage' beetle when I was out with my peeps-like two weeks ago.  PUNCHBUG!

'August'

I finally made another rug!  This is August.  (Mariska Hargitay has a son named August.)  I thought it was a good name since it was made in August.  August is made with a thrifted grey and lavender sheet, and also thrifted t-shirts.   

                I thought my grey and lavender sheet was my color inspiration, but perhaps it was subliminally this cup!

Flowers from my garden

There aren't many, but I'm enjoying the flowers that have come from my garden!

Enjoying my hummers before they fly south

Sometimes I get lazy and I don't fill their feeder when it gets empty.  I'll keep it filled now though, because they'll be leaving me next month!  I have to enjoy them while I can.  (I think the white-throated hummingbird is a female, and the red-throated one is a male. Why do the males get all the color???)

These are Jodie's lovely zinnias.  I wish mine were this nice.  I may be stealing some of these for my windowsill.

Randomness, as usual

There was an 'X' in the sky the other day-and yes, I checked to make sure there wasn't an 'O'.

I made red velvet crinkle cookies last week.  The recipe was on the Duncan Hines Signature red velvet cake mix.  The red dye is probably terrible for you, but I really loved these cookies.

I made some sour refrigerator pickles with some cukes that Larry brought home.

This is my nephew's and niece's trike~getting old, getting rusty.  I think Jodie uses it as a photography prop now.
