I have purple lilacs too! I planted 3 little starts probably 4 years ago and this is the first year they have bloomed. I also have a white lilac bush, it's been here forever.

I started these bushes probably 10 or more years ago from Larry's mom and dad's. I was so excited the first year they bloomed. There's a white one in the middle and two purple ones on each side of it. The white one didn't have many blooms though.
I bet you were excited when you saw the blooms!

I dont have a lilac bush..Jack thinks that they get too big..and we are running out of space in our little yard!!! Lol! I do LOVE them so..they are planted all around the hospital, and they definitely make my walk in and out of work smell great!!!!!
My white one doesn't get very many blooms either. I am not sure if it is because it is so old and bloomed out or what.
