Off my camera

I always see this pretty pink bush in the spring on my way to town-I had to stop and take a pic.  I think Larry's grandma had one of these bushes, but I don't know what it's called.

My neighbor's hens and chicks.

Under the tulip tree.

I went out to eat with my girl last weekend!

The prettiest volleyball I've ever seen-it's Jessica's.

Same tree-new app!
Here's the wasps' nest I took out of my kitchen window-natural decor!  Have a great weekend, everybody!

Mini-makeover for my little kitchen

Before

It all started last night because I redid my windowsill with Mason jars to get ready for lilacs and dogwood flowers.

First though-I wanted to clean my window.  Wasps had built a nest between the window and the screen last summer and I never had the heart to kill them.  They made a mess!  But when I climbed up on the chair and took the curtain down and took the screen out, I noticed the filth up above.  It had been awhile since I had cleaned up there and ewwwwww!

So this morning I thought-I'm going to take all that crap down AND I'm going to take down that border AND I'm going to try to get that rail off.  It was nice in 1987, but now the dated dirt trap had to go!  With a little help from a hammer and a crow bar, off it came.

When I took all that stuff down along with the border-it was so dark up there, it looked terrible.  So I just went ahead and cleaned.  And cleaned some more.  I was trying to figure out what to put up there.  I started with a few of my Pyrex bowls, and well the rest is history.

(My fridge is naked-I took all my pics off today, but I will be putting updated pics back on.)

I like the color the bowls added and I think the whole kitchen looks better than before.

Wow-it's so true that you have to mess up to clean up and oh, boy-what a mess I had.

Now, I need a cup of tea!

Have a great day!

This and that

Rocco and I went for a ride in the Gator the other night.  It was hot-thus the panting.

I wasn't going to take him-but he automatically jumped in when I started it.  Larry said to go ahead and take him.  The dog has good balance!

This is him throwing his head around when I tried to get his attention.  Yep-still hot out!

I found more lichen in a heart(ish) shape.

Pretty ponies!

The forsythia has bloomed this week in all its beautiful yellow glory!

Along with horses, I see chickens on my way to town too.

This dandelion growing in the crack of our cement slab is in bloom too!

My desktop computer was attacked by malware the other day.  Thank goodness for my little netbook!  I could google my problems and watch youtube videos and fix it in a round about way.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Spring is springing!

My lilac bushes are sprouting!

My dogwood is budding!

The grass in greening!

My Rocco is waiting (for Daddy)!

And now Daddy is home!

Happy spring!

Photo essay (or something)

Yesterday afternoon-I headed to yet another birthday party.  (This one was for my 18 year old nephew-Patrick.)  I have a rough life-I tell ya!

Traffic on my road is terrible!

(When I passed by this horse and buggy-I noticed the man was sleeping!  Asleep at the reins!  I kid you not.  He had a huge hat on and his head was down.   I feel for him, though-I really do.  I can't imagine how sleepy riding in a carriage must make you.  I'd probably be thinking, "Eh, the horse knows the way" too!)

It was downright balmy out.  A glorious 74 degrees!  In March!

Here's part of the spread!

Here's the white cake.

Here's a blurry pic of the 18 year old.

Jodie also made this delectable chocolate peanut butter cake.  You can find the recipe here at Smitten Kitchen, if you are interested.  You really should be interested.  It was devine!

This morning I woke up to this glorious sky!

I hope you have a fabulous Sunday!

You got to stop-and smell the roses!

Hey Mister

Where you going in such a hurry

Don't you think it's time you realized

There's a whole lot more to life than work and worry

The sweetest things in life are free

And there right before your eyes

You got to Stop and Smell the roses

You've got to count your many blessings everyday

You're gonna find your way to heaven is a rough and rocky road

If you don't Stop and Smell the roses along the way

If you don't Stop and Smell the roses along the way

Before you went to work this morning in the city

Did you spent some time with your family

Did you kiss your wife and tell her that she's pretty

Did you take your children to your breast and love them tenderly

You got to Stop and Smell the roses

You've got to count your many blessings everyday

You're gonna find your way to heaven is a rough and rocky road

If you don't Stop and Smell the roses along the way

Did you ever take a walk through the forest

Stop and dream a while among the trees

Well you can look up through the leaves right straight to heaven

You can almost hear the voice of God

In each any every breeze

You got to Stop and Smell the Roses

You've got to count your many blessings everyday

You're gonna find your way to heaven is a rough and rocky road

If you don't Stop and Smell the Roses along the way*

Happy 18th birthday to my favorite nephew, Patrick!

He's such a clown!

Here's Patrick with cousin Hope.

Here's Patrick with his beautiful fam!

Here's Patrick with his momma and sister.

Today is my nephew, Patrick's (I like to call him Patty!) 18th birthday.  It's hard to believe that that little seven pound baby is now a fine, handsome, young man!  Yes, it might be hard to believe, but it's so true.

Happy birthday, Patty.  Your Aunt Hoddy loves you!

This and that

Round and round she goes, where she'll stop-no one knows!  (There's a lady bug on my mug!)

I could see this turkey vulture(?) circling and circling outside my window.

I've been Skyping with my girl!  She's at the beach this week.  I'm a little bit jealous!

I'm rooting a plant cutting a friend gave me.  I'm not sure what it's called, though.

I found a pleasant surprise in my junk drawer.  I was rooting around for some blue polish for my toenails and didn't I find a heart shaped bottle of nail polish.  Mom must have given it to me-she gives me her polish she doesn't like.  It's Avon and the color is Lovey Dovey!
