I'm going to try again. I saw the idea to use cans for planters here. I decided not to paint them, I just tied some string around them instead. I placed some rocks on the bottom for drainage and then some potting soil and then 'seed starter dirt stuff'. These hens and chicks are from some I have outside. Usually for me these end up rotting from too much water or they dry up from not enough water. I thought about just spritzing them with water every once in a while. Those are nice Holly. I love succulents. Your cans with strings look great!!
I always kill mine too. Dry them out and then rot them with too much water. Watch out for rust marks on your bench from the cans!
Hey there, Melissa! I've missed you. :)
aww thats sweet. Been busy home schooling and being a mama. Missed you too!
I tried to keep my special hen & chick succulents, plus a couple more I spent too much on (!) over the winter. But, sadly, they all look deader than dead. I tried misting them for awhile, then I think I went too crazy with the water for a time. Who knows? But it's disappointing :( -Tammy
Well-if I ever find the secret to keeping them alive indoors-I'll be sure to tell you!
Good luck! You only have a couple more months before you can sit them outside! That's what i do with a lot of my plants - bring them inside from the cold and just as they are about to die from my lack of care (or too much care), it is nice again, and I put them outside and let God take over.
I'm not great with indoor plants. I have one sad looking aloe plant that has survived the winter under my neglectful care. The can idea is a good one.
Can't give any advice in this area since I kill all my plants, but I do love your cans with the string tied around them.
