Photo journaling-I planted a few sunflower seeds and they actually grew!

I planted an old pack of sunflower seeds behind my house using the stab and drop method.

 Take screwdriver. Stab the hard ground. Drop seed in hole. Half-heartedly push dirt over hole with finger. Wait.

 This method works quite well!

The view from behind is equally as pretty as the view from the front!

One of the stalks fell over, so I brought it in.  So cheery!
I want to dry the flowers now, so that the birds can eat the seeds. :)

I'm so glad I grabbed my camera the other morning when my husband asked me to pick him up at his rock pile (on the gator), over the hill from our house and through the pasture field.  (He was repairing roads around his mom's farm that day.)  What a beautiful morning!

Blue skies, white clouds, and a yellow nasturtium!

I found an old packet of nasturtium seeds, so I pushed them into my old watering can planters.  Nasturtiums thrive in poor soil-which is great for me!

Some photos from the last month or so:

This is an eastern bluebird.  My husband put out a birdhouse that we'd had in storage for years and they have built a nest in one section of it.  So I've seen a lot of these pretty birds lately.  I also finally bought a tripod and I think that will help me capture these beauties from a distance.

I found a chipping sparrow's nest in my dogwood tree.   It's been fun checking in on it.  I have to step up on a ladder to see in it though.  The nest is tiny and so are the eggs.  I can't wait to see the babies!

It's hummingbird season!  Love watching these little guys.

This is a woodpecker that was at my parent's house.  I don't get to see them often.  Sadly, yesterday I found one dead behind our house.  It must have flew into our window.  Poor thing.

Roadside blackberries-I can't wait until these are ripe, cause I'm gonna pick them!
