Jewel

This is Jewel.  Named for her jewel toned colors.  I think I counted 11 thrifted t-shirts in Jewel.  What a gem Jewel is!

This is my ever changing stack of rag balls.

This is no weed!  This is a beautiful, edible flower with medicinal properties.  They grow everywhere and are nearly impossible to kill!  I love you dandelion.  :)

Here's my cast iron shoe full of hens and chicks.  Succulents don't suck...

they rock!

I started priming the camper this week.  I have a long, long way to go.  ICK!  But I will do my best not to stress about it.  It's not brain surgery-it's just a camper.  :)

I hope you have a beautiful weekend!

Sage, salt shaker, and stuff!

This is Sage.  Named for the lovely green she contains.  Made with thrifted shirts and a fitted sheet (which ended up being a little too small for my bed) with the same print that I used in Fern.  I LOVE Sage!  I mean Sage the rug-I'm not a big fan of sage sage!

I found this lovely egg-shaped salt shaker at Goodwill for the low, low price of 15 cents.  I think it's the mustardy yellow that attracted me to it.

Have you ever seen the Simply Breakfast blog?  If you haven't, you should.  But I'll warn you right now-you will be hungry after you are done looking.

This was my breakfast this morning-oatmeal.  Oh-if only I could take photos like Jen Causey!  I can always dream.  :)

I am quite excited about this-the hummingbirds are back.  Yesterday-I thought I saw a reflection of a hummer.  I hurried up and got the feeder and cleaned it up and made feed.  (4 parts water to 1 part sugar.  Boil 1 minute.  Cool.  Serve.)  I never saw another yesterday.  I was beginning to think it was wishful thinking-but nope-today (although I haven't been able to capture it) I saw a hummer several times already.

Have I ever mentioned that I love hummingbirds?  Well, if I haven't, I do!

Click on the above image to enlarge.  I think it's cool that the clouds, sky, and trees are bottled.  :)

Have a wonderful day.

Rusty, Rocco, and randomness

Here's Rusty.  His name was inspired by the rusty colors he contains.  Rusty's made with thrifted t-shirts and also two thrifted dresses-one of which I'm positive was from the 70's.

Here's my beautiful dog, Rocco the rowdy rottweiler.  Did you notice how shiny he is?  He had an Easter bath.

A friend of mine gave me some baby plants-a snake plant (I think) and an aloe.

Here are some pepper plants along with one tomato plant in the middle.  I think they're liking this window.

Here are some more tomato plants.  They're loving the light here.

Here are three prints I ordered a while back from Abby Try Again's Etsy shop.  A splurge for me-but I don't feel so guilty splurging on something from Etsy.   I finally got around to finding some old but nice frames in the closet, so yesterday I spray painted them with flat black paint and then sanded the edges.  At first I didn't like the prints in these frames-but now they are growing on me.

Oh-here's some popcorn-just because!

Have a wonderful day!

PS-Happy birthday to my bro-out-law, Davey!  He's gettin' old.  :)

Kathie Lee and Martha

(Kathie Lee and her peeps.)

I was inspired to name my latest rug  Kathie Lee-that's because it contains a Kathie Lee shirt.  Hubby's been watching the Seinfeld series and the night I was cutting up the Kathie Lee shirt, the episode where Kramer promotes his coffee table book about coffee tables on Regis and Kathie Lee came on.  Cracks me up!  Did you know Regis is 79 years old?

(Martha and her peeps.)

And this is Martha.  Why?  Well-because she contains a Martha Stewart bed skirt.  Man, I love naming these rugs!

Both rugs contain thrifted 29 cent shirts and bedding from Goodwill.

Oh, and don't worry about the Peeps being on the floor.  They're not for eating.  In fact, they are from last year and hard as a rock.  (I haven't noticed any ants or bugs yet either, amazingly!)

Have a blessed Easter!

Great balls of rags!

Since I've cleaned my little, ahem, work corner-I can't stay away.   I've become really productive!

Look at all those rag balls!  I already knew this, and you probably already knew this too-if you clean a space, you will want to be there.

Why, why, why don't we want to be in messy, dirty places???  Life would be so much easier, since messy and dirty are so much easier-if we did.

I know you want a close up of my cute, little, red, thrifted, play piano.  Isn't it adorable???

Have a lovely day!

Fern

Meet Fern.  Her name is inspired by the sheet I used which had gold ferns on it.  (I cut into the flat sheet, but saved the fitted sheet for my bed.)  Like appliances from the 70's-Fern is green and gold.  Made from thrifted sheets and shirts.  When I hear the name Fern-I always think of the little girl in Charlotte's Web.

I was lucky enough to come across some more mostly wooden spools of thread at Goodwill for 99 cents.  I might as well face it-I'm addicted to thread.  Mugs and thread.  I can think of worse things to be addicted to.

******************************
Finally-Rocco found a 2x4 the other day.  Here's what I think he was trying to say to me:

Good grief-I tried to play fetch with Rocco with the thing and I could barely toss it-it was so heavy.  Someone was going to hurt themselves, so Hubby took it away.  Rocco's going to have to find another way to satisfy his beaver-like tendencies!

Have a good day.  :)

Ricky Joe

Hey-I've got to take the inspiration where I can get it.

Thought process-hmmmmmm-what can I name this rug?  Berry is taken so hmmmmm-oh wait, here are some mugs with names on.   A name and a prop-perfect!

Oh, I love naming these rugs.  You know, I've only gotten to name one child soooooo.....  And making rugs is painless, unlike child bearing and child rearing.

I'm giving Ricky and Joe their close ups.

Ricky Joe is made from thrifted shirts and there are thrifted pillow cases in there too.

Here's my new mug.  No-I didn't get a facelift.  The kind you drink from, silly!

Ain't she lovely???  I think so.  She's from Goodwill, of course.

Have a wonderful day!

Kimmie's Korners

On Saturday, I visited my youngest sister-Kimmie.  I took my camera with me and I asked if she minded if some images of her home (top floor of a house) ended up on my blog.  She didn't.  So-come along for the tour!

The living room

 The dining room

The bed and bath

The kitschy kitchen

The dining nook

The office

The halls

The laundry room

Kimmie's home is so kute!  Very warm and inviting.  I think all who visit that have houses of their own-are a tiny bit envious of Kimmie's kozy top floor 'apartment'.  :)

I hope you enjoyed the tour.  Now I must klean my own korners or take a knap or something.

Have a wonderful day!

French press, living room, and a rag rug

Look what I found at Goodwill a few weeks ago-a cute little French press for 49 cents.  Ain't it adorable?

Now-I'd never used a French press and wouldn't know what one was if it wasn't for the internets.  Anyhow-I picked up some new coffee-as opposed to the old coffee that I have here because I hardly ever use it.  I googled French press-so I could learn how to use it.  Well-first of all-I bought the wrong kind of coffee.  The internets says you should buy coarsely ground coffee-I bought finely ground.  It's because you'll get more sediment-and I got a lot of sediment, but it didn't really bother me.  The taste was better than when I make it with a coffee pot-but still not quite like Starbucks.  But, oh boy-I gots meself a little caffeine buzz.  I'm a tea drinker at heart, so I probably won't use it much-but it's nice to know that it's there and also-it's pretty to look at.  :)

***The internets also says that coffee from a French press can raise your bad cholesterol, because it doesn't filter the oils like a paper filter does-or something.***

Yesterday-I cleaned the schmutz from the living room.  I sit here to make rag rugs and every nook and cranny gets covered in lint.  It gets to be a real mess with the fabric and lint strewn everywhere.

This is funny-after I cleaned the mess, Rocco had no place to bury his rawhide.  He wandered around looking very confused and then finally went upstairs to bury it in the schmutz up there.  Okay-maybe you had to be there to think it was funny.  :)

Here's the latest rag rug-Mae.  Mae Flowers.  Cousin to Gennifer.  She's mostly greens and yellows-thrifted sheets and tees.

I'm headed to my youngest sister's place today for a Thirty-One Gifts party.  Have a nice day!

Snow in April

And Rocco loves every minute of it.  He'd stay outside all day if I'd let him and I'd let him if I knew he wouldn't run off.  Since I have to keep an eye on him-I would like it to be 75 degrees with low humidity 24 hours a day, thank you very much!
I named my latest rug-Ever.  Ever Green.  Yes-I've seen Ever and Everly as little girls' names on the internets.  Cute-I think.  Anyhow-I made 'Ever' for a friend.  She has lots of green and burgandy in her house, so green and burgandy it is.  I hope she likes it.  Ever is made with some stash fabric I found in my closet, and thrifted sheets and tees.

I hope you have a wonderful day!
