The 40 dollar shelf

See this shelf?  I've probably had the thing for 10 years, but I only just hung it up in March when I wallpapered my dining room.  I 'think' I ordered it from Tender Heart Treasures back in the day before I had discovered Goodwill.  I 'think' I paid *gasp* 40 dollars for it-it was before I knew there were treasures to be found for pocket change!  When it arrived at my door-I didn't really like it so much and couldn't find a place for it in my house.  So back behind my hope chest under the eves in my bedroom it sat for years collecting dust and cobwebs.  So when I was putting my dining room back together-I dug the thing out.  And I fixed it.  With a hacksaw.  Man, I love hacksaws!  They can do wonders!

Now I love my shelf.  Yesterday I changed out the tins I had on there for 'office' supplies.  Aren't they cute?
Left to right (kind of)-McCoy flower pot from a friend's yardsale, staplers-one from Goodwill & one from my mom, spool o' thread from Goodwill, orange ceramic thingy from Goodwill, little colored pencils from Michaels dollar bin, and a jar o' notions.

Left to right-a plastic creamer from Goodwill, a McCoy flower pot from an antique store (silly me!), a tin from Goodwill,  big spool of thin cotton yarn from Goodwill, mug from Goodwill, and a jar o' Sharpies.

And this thing-this is what was hacked off.  I kept it, of course, because I figured eventually I'd want to do something with it.  And I was just thinking (dangerous!) right now, this might be cute with hooks on it, hanging somewhere!  So the 40 dollar Tender Heart Treasure shelf thingy saga continues............

Nice job! It looks wonderful. Yes, I shudder when I think how much we used to pay for stuff at Home Interiors - $100 for a picture! Oh my! We were so foolish back then :-). I like your idea for the part you cut off too. Might look cute hanging with dish towels and some stenciling done on the curved part.

You're scaring me with your hacksaw love. You sound like a dangerous woman. Or a woman on a mission. Good job.

Well at least you got 2 projects out of your $40 shelf. Love all your pretties!! Adam found a little brown McCoy dish at Goodwill this week. It is cute. I love that aqua-colored McCoy. Judy Crawford has a beautiful flower pot that color and someday she might find it missing. SHHHH. I drool over it every time I go in her house.
