Since I was home all day yesterday-I ended up getting my mess of a house cleaned. So this morning I thought I'd try to make the family art table runner from Handmade Home.
I used the same kid art that I used for Meg's art tray, a piece of old muslin curtain, a piece of a shower curtain, scrap fabric, an inkjet fabric sheet (I've had these for years-but never used them-expensive!), and ric rac.
I ended up sewing the back on wrong side out (when turned). Oops! I didn't feel like ripping it out, so I pretended that was the way I wanted it. It's the back after all! And I should have sewn the ric rac on before I sewed the front and back together-but I didn't. I ended up lightly hot gluing the ric rac on. Doesn't look so great, so I may try fixing this later. Or I may not.23 projects done, 10 to go!

Wow, I think your runner looks awesome. I want to try and make one out of the mothers day art I got this weekend. Such a good project, gonna share it with other Mom friends.

Love your runner. If you had not told us about your mistakes we would have passed it off as perfect. I have to go out today and get a new printer. What kind do you have?

Melissa-my printer is a HP photosmart C4680. It came free with my daughter's laptop. I was cursing it for not making nice photos-but when I actually adjusted the settings for photos-as I should have done before-my photos turned out great!
Jodi-no I haven't told Amanda what I am doing-but I do upload the projects to her Handmade Home Flickr group.
I'm glad you are making all the projects in Handmade Home - then when I try I know where to turn for advice!

I love this idea! Does she have the instuctions on line somewhere, or do I have to buy the book for them?
